The Lion in Winter at War

November 9-11, 2018

Barony of Windmasters’ Hill

Millstone 4-H Center, 1296 Mallard Dr., Ellerbe, NC 28338

Battle rages through the streets of Chinon in Anjou, France, as the supporters of Henry, Eleanor, Richard, John, and Geoffrey (at least) compete, scheme, connive, bribe, and intrigue their way to the throne of England and its dominions.

Heavy Combat:

Heavy Marshal:  Baroness Gwenllian Gwilim

Melees through the streets of Chinon up to the castle.  Combat archery and siege welcome to participate but in need of a marshal.

Rapier:  Rapier MIC is open.  Melee format will be similar to heavy.

Henry, Eleanor, Richard, John, Geoffrey, and Philip; all of them seek the throne.  If you dare to aid them, if you dare to stop them, you must support or hinder them.  Bring your A&S.  All of it.  If it’s a work in progress, bring it.  If it’s already done, bring it.  If you decide you want to perform, sing, recite, whatever, bring it.  Here’s how it works:  If you just want to declare your support for somebody because your A&S isn’t specific to a person, no problem.  Just declare, and give anybody who admires your work a ribbon.  Your ribbon will be a color based on who you support.  If you want to bring a work that doesn’t shout out the specifics of who you support, people can guess.  Make that part of your schtick.  Give away clues in the work or your description, or what have you.  It’s the populace’s job to figure out who it is and whether they want to support that particular person.  Ribbons will be given out, as previously stated.  At the end of the day, they’ll be added up and used to help determine the winner.

Entertainment:  Friday and Saturday evenings will each have a showing of The Lion In Winter.  Friday night is for serious watchers and people who haven’t seen it before.  Saturday night is for MST3K-style interaction.

Mistress Graciela Esperanza (Gracie Hutchings) is in charge.  Feast is set for the first 75 people who reserve.  Space MAY be available for up to 120 depending on HOW FAST YOU GET YOUR RESERVATIONS IN.  Was that subtle?  Good.  The current plan is for a French / English “conflict feast”.

Event fees:

Adult Member:  $10 daytrip / $10 feast / $15 cabin space

Adult Non Member:  Add $5

Youth (12-17):  $10 daytrip / $10 feast / $15 cabin space
