Sheep Fleece Prep Workshops
Ever want to know how to process a fleece from the sheep to spinning into a final yarn? I will be hosting workshops this spring focusing on processing a fleece and am opening my home to those interested in learning/participating in these activities.
Saturday, April 25 from 12pm - 4pm: Fleece selection and Washing
This first workshop we will discuss how to acquire and select fleeces and the pre-wash prep and washing of a fleece.
Sunday, May 10 from 1pm - 5pm: Dying Fleece with Natural Dyes
Katherine Rous will be coming to help with using period dyes to dye wool.
Sunday, May 17 from 1pm - 5pm: Carding & Combing
Now that the fleece has been cleaned and colored, time to card or comb the fleece to prepare for spinning.
Saturday, May 30 from 12pm - 4pm: Spinning
We've taken the fleece and washed, dying and prepped it. Now it's time to make yarn! Come and spin (bring wheel or drop spindles) or if you are interested in learning come by and try your hand. Have extra drop spindles!
Please contact me if you are interested in attending so I have an idea how many people to expect and I can get you directions/address.
These workshops have been loaded into the Baronial Calendar. :)
The next workshop is this Sunday (May 10) from 1pm - 5pm! Now the fleece is clean, this workshop we will be using natural dyes to dye the fleece!

Please RSVP if you are planning on attending so I have an idea of how many to expect. Also, please bring protective eyewear and gloves as we will be handling mordants and dyestuff (safety first!).
Due to being under the weather, I had to cancel the Sheep Fleece workshop on 5/17. I have therefore re-scheduled the last two workshops:
Saturday, May 30 - Carding & Combing
Sunday, June 14 - Spinning
The next Sheep Fleece Prep Workshop where we will be spinning will be on Saturday, June 20. The Calendar has been updated.
I figured the 14th would be a little busy after all the Golden Rose Tourney.

If you missed the first Fleece Prep workshop, I have uploaded an article onto the Windmasters' Hill website!
