Newcomer Introduction Page Please

I'm gabby with my customers at work and can't help but rave to them about how much fun I have stabbing people. They're interested, of course, but I'm not really sure where to point them when they ask for more information. I could aim them at the official SCA site, but I'd much prefer to send them here, to their local Barony, with a simple, concise page that describes how a completely new person could attend an event and enjoy themselves, along with the next local event. Ideally this would be located prominently on the first page of the site. Do we have such a page that could be located thusly, or what can I do to help create one?

In addition, we are looking to add a 'Next 7 Days in Windmasters' Hill' to the front page which will reflect the calendar items for the next seven days. Will this provide what you are looking for?

I see we do have a Beginner's Guide which contains a great deal of the sort of information I'm talking about. Could we add to this a single eyecatching page, something like "Attend the next local event!" with event info and a link to the costume basics? I suppose what I'm suggesting is that the beginner's guide is an excellent resource, but I feel like a more attention-getting front would help draw people in to events, and that's where they'll really either love it or leave it. I would never have gotten involved with this group if I had not made a personal face-to-face contact, and I am still quite bad about wading around in webpages. I don't like to spend more time in front of my computer screen than I absolutely have to. [she said, sitting in front of her computer screen in a completely voluntary manner... ;)]
