Any Major Hardware Store

Check the Yellow Pages! Power tools galore and simple, common hand tools. Pine, sometimes poplar and oak.

Capitol City Lumber

www.capitolcitylumber.com They stock a large selection of exotic wood & the staff there is pretty friendly.

Flea Markets

If you are careful and persistent, you can find some good buys on tools.

Harbor Freight

Locations in Durham, Fayetteville and Raleigh, NC.
There is also a factory outlet store at exit 190 on I-95 just south of the SC border.
www.harborfreight.com
Harbor Freight is not known for the finest tools, but many of them are very serviceable and a good bargain. They are known for having very competitive prices. Aside from the types of tools you would find at a major hardware store, they will often have decorative metal stamps and dishing cubes. Not all stores carry the full range of products.
