Making a Gladius
A co-worker of mine helped his son make a Gladius for a school project. The son won the state competition.
Pictures of the process are here: http://s149.photobucket.com/albums/s75/TheMcLemores/The%20Gladius/?album...
I was contemplating that very thing when I was trying to figure out where to post it.
I don't have any bright ideas. Of course I haven't slept more than two or three hours a night since Saturday (yay insomnia). In any case if you think of something you can add a forum pretty easy from the admin/content menu.
I posted this link in the Nova Roma mail forum, and the praise was profuse and genuine. There were numerous cries of, "Are they cives? If not, they should be!"
I'd be interested to know how that crowd reacts to my balteus.

Hmmm.... do they have an on line archive? I'd love to send my co-worker the link.
If you're looking for online roman archives you might take a look at the forums over at romanarmytalk.com
Sadly, they're using Yahoo groups for most of their communication, which drives me batty but there you have it.

I feel obligated to warn you that a fair amount of drama erupts on the main list at regular intervals, usually in the form of Christians vs. Pagans, but if you can ignore that, there are some very interesting resources and discussions.

We should have somewhere in the forums better than Off Topic to put stuff like this. This seems pretty topical to me. Maybe an A&S sub-forum of some kind should be made?
